Your adventure begins with a warm welcome in Tangier, followed by a scenic drive to Chefchaouen, a charming town nestled in the Rif Mountains. Known for its iconic blue-washed streets, this town remained a mystery to the outside world until the arrival of Spanish troops in 1920. We’ll spend the afternoon exploring its vibrant streets before settling in for the night.
Wake up to the soft glow of daylight over Chefchaouen and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before diving deeper into the magic of this “Blue Pearl.” Be sure to bring your camera as we wander through its picturesque alleys, capturing the spirit of the city. In the afternoon, we depart for Fes with stops at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes. Wander through history as you marvel at the architectural grandeur of these once-great civilizations. We’ll arrive in Fes by evening, where you’ll spend the night.
Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, a city steeped in centuries of history and culture. Founded by the Idrisid dynasty, Fes has long been regarded as Morocco’s cultural, spiritual, and intellectual heart. With a local guide, we’ll visit landmarks such as Bab Boujloud, the Dar Batha Museum, and the University of Al Quaraouine—one of the world’s oldest operating universities. You’ll also explore the Merinid Tombs and Boujloud Gardens, which offer breathtaking panoramic views of the city. As the day comes to a close, we’ll drop you off at your riad or hotel for the night.
We embark on an exciting journey towards the Sahara Desert today. Along the way, we’ll stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to playful Barbary macaques. As we venture deeper into the heart of the country, we’ll pass through the Ziz Valley and various Berber villages before arriving in Merzouga. In the evening, you’ll ride camels through the mesmerizing dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets, creating an unforgettable backdrop. We’ll then reach our desert camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner, music, and a night under the stars.
After breakfast, we’ll explore the desert further with a thrilling 4x4 tour. The day includes a panoramic view of the Sahara dunes, a visit to an abandoned mine, and a stop to meet nomadic families who will welcome us with traditional tea. We’ll continue to the village of Khamlia, famous for its lively African musicians, where you’ll enjoy a unique lunch of Berber pizza. As evening approaches, we’ll once again embark on a camel trek through the vast dunes, arriving at a desert camp where we’ll spend another magical night under the desert sky, accompanied by Berber music and storytelling around the campfire.
Rise early to witness the stunning desert sunrise before heading back to Merzouga by camel or 4x4. Our journey continues with a visit to the historical town of Rissani, famous for its vibrant souks and ancient connections to the Alaouite dynasty. We’ll stop in Erfoud for a fascinating tour of the local fossil factory before heading to Tinghir and the dramatic Todra Gorges. Marvel at the towering limestone cliffs before continuing through the scenic Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night.
Today’s journey takes us through the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” where we’ll visit the historic Amridil Kasbah. We then proceed to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you’ll have the option to tour film studios used in several famous productions. Next, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning fortified village that has featured in countless films and TV shows. Finally, we traverse the majestic High Atlas Mountains, arriving in the imperial city of Marrakech by evening.
Marrakech, known as the “Red City,” is one of the most vibrant and exotic cities in the world. With a local guide, we’ll explore iconic sites such as Jamaa el Fna Square, where you can experience the rich tapestry of local life—from snake charmers and storytellers to musicians and street performers. We’ll also visit the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the stunning Majorelle Garden, an oasis of calm amidst the bustling city. In the evening, we’ll return to your riad or hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll escort you to the airport in Marrakech or Casablanca, ensuring a smooth and timely departure for your return flight. This marks the end of our unforgettable journey together. Safe travels!
Typically, a duration of 7 to 15 days is suitable for exploring Morocco at a moderate pace, whether you want to admire the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, marvel at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kasbah des Oudaias, in the capital Rabat, immerse yourself in the imperial cities and medieval medina of Fez, ride a camel through the Sahara Desert or explore the Jemaa el-Fna market in Marrakech.
At Morocco by Mundo Marruecos, we organize private, customized Morocco tours for travelers from all around the world. We design each tour alongside you. The result is a highly personalized tour for your travel dates, preferences, and travel style. Our trips are flexible and are tailored to fit around the experiences you wish to have. We work hard to balance your time to include independent exploration with engaging guided visits where pertinent or necessary. So, you’ll get to explore on your own, if you wish, and will always have your driver or expert guide with you whenever needed.
We work a little differently than most other operators in Morocco. After years in the field, we have found a balance between drivers and guides that we think works well. Essentially, your driver is more than a driver, he is your tour host and confidant. We consider our drivers to be some of the best in the entire country. Many of them have degrees in Spanish and will be with you to keep you safe on the roads, answer cultural questions you may have, and simply act as a key to the local culture and regions you will visit.
You can use credit and debit cards in tourist areas of Morocco. Visa and MasterCard are the most accepted. But it is suggested to withdraw some cash for daily purchases such as meals, drinks, and small souvenirs.
Well, it depends. Most foreign nationals entering Morocco do not need a visa. If you are an American, Canadian, Australian/New Zealand, or European passport holder, you will not need a visa. Malaysians, Singaporeans, and some passport holders from Hong Kong do not either. If you are from another country, you may very well need a visa.
